Thank god it only took 5 minutes to download for me! Don't bother unless you've got a P3 500 or better, it's absolutly awful on my K6-2 450 and G200.

Just to see if the G200 was holding it back I cranked the resolution to 1024x768, but it made very little difference, and there was still no speed up with every option turned off with the screen shrunk way down.

I like the way the read-me says it's just a modified Q2 engine, and it might run a little slower than Q2... a "little"? Q2 actually runs VERY good on my computer, so I think they're being a little optimistic.

I got it to work with a G400 and a PIII 550E @ 733 MHz. I just wandered around the map for a little while and shot a few things.

Does anyone get it NOT to crash all the time under Windows2000?

Hey, what web site has the new Daikatana demo at? I just went over to the official site and all they had up was the old Mplayer demo. I have the power of DSL so a 102mb demo shouldn't be a problem for me

downloaded in about 10 min or so great speed on the official site. graphic was kinda dark.. i guess it's because it was suppose to be.. i had to crank the light all the way up to see anything. it's interesting going to explore some more..

and nope.. never did crash on me

I'll be the first one to outright say it. It sucks, the graphics are dark (presumably to hide the sub par Quake II type graphics), controls are totally cheesy, just all around a cheesy demo for a cheesy game. Don't bother unless you have a phat pipe to the net or you'll shoot yourself in the foot.

God, I love cable. I haven't installed it yet, but to download 100M in less than 15 minutes is nothing short of stunning.

I'm more looking forward to TFC2. Anyone see the screen shots in PC Accelerator this month? WOW!

Also, Duke Nukem is way at the top of my list.

Be prepared for random crashes and load-games that will not load on a win2K system
One tip to acces further maps, if it crashes all the time (like I had) is to type in console the maps: "map e2m1b"
                      Whoa! Romero is my bitch

Is this a demo of the game that really took 5 years to develop? I only played it for a couple of minutes but really didn't do anything for me. I'll play it some more, but my first impressions are "you gotta be kidding me..."

                        Anyone else?

Andy, maybe that's because it took 5 years to develop. I've only seen pics of it (don't bother to d/l a 102Mb demo with a v.90 modem !), and what I saw was outdated last year, the year before that etcetera

Maybe staking all on John Romero isn't what we should do. Put it down on a project gone wrong One notch up for it: You won't need a monster-PC to run it with everything up full

Okay, I'm officially done with this demo & game. I wasn't able to save or load a game without locking up. As the game doesn't have my interest, I'm not going to bother troubleshooting.

Final take: Pass on this one. Wait for Duke Nukem or TFC2.

The sounds are weak (they say they'll patch that later), the video is old & dark, and the gameplay isn't interesting.

I wished I cared enough to play until I got to Superfly. You'd think you couldn't go wrong with a character with that name, but they managed it.

I haven't played the demo, but when it goes gold I will be sure to get it, just because KillCreek was the designer. Does she make good levels? Who cares, she is freakin hot and will get my support.

While all of you geeks and puebescents out there are whacking off to Agent Scully, Natalie Portman, or even worse Lara Croft, here is a girl that is not only in the tech industry, is a total hotty, and would kick your ass and almost any game imaginable. If that doesn't spell 'dream girl' for every gaming male out there, I don't know what does.

By the way, did she really go through with being in playboy? Can someone tell me which issue? I personally like the woman she has 'transformed' herself into, it makes me want to get a job at Ion.
