  • 5.55 drivers for G400Max?

Can anyone please tell me if the Marvel G400 5.55 drivers are compatible with G400Max? or in other words, can I use 5.55 drivers with G400Max?

Just curious....do the 5.55 drivers have any improvements, aside from the added Marvel stuff? That is, are they just 5.52 with added Marvel features?

At least i found my card is just outmaxed. I only get some minor improvements ind 3dMark2000 and other Benchmars from 650 to 810 Mhz. I need that G800 Dual Chip!

            Hi Mega,

I couldn't be bothered to get back to PD5.55 ...

But I read quite a few people getting a speed boost when changing to PD5.55.

              Questions.
Why did Matrox not post the 5.55 drivers for the G400 vanilla/Max?(are they made for 16mb cards)
Do they have something else planned, for those two?
Do the new drivers fix anything in particular, or give a speed increase?

On a different note I tested a geforce in my pc over a long weekend, as a possible upgrade for my games pc. To cut a long story short I still have a G400, just couldnt get it stable.

Thanks for the reply Maggi, do you think we MIGHT see any new drivers this Friday? for the standard cards or shall I make do with the Video Bias Drivers?

Incidently, this has to be one of the most useful forums I am a member of, the idiot count is very very low.

                Nice place to frequent

                  Sorry Amish ... I had to ...

                  _______________________________

I think Matrox didn't release PD5.55 for all cards, mainly because they tested it to work in conjuncting with those new video tools and it would have taken even longer to test 'em under non-video circumstances.

Btw, PD5.55 was not released solely for the Marvel cards, but also for any RR-G combe, i.e. you need a G200 or G400 to run a RR-G and hence those drivers must work without a RR-G ...

                  Cheers,
                  Maggi

                    Hey Skeoch-
Which GeForce Card did you try??? I did the same thing, tried the LeadTek GTS2 over the long weekend.. except I kept mine. I have nearly the same system as you do and my GeFroce (LeadTek) runs solid. My G400 is now in my secondary system. Getting a 3DMark score of over 4000 on my system.

                    PIII 500, ABIT BX6 R2, 192Meg PC100, LeadTek GTS2,

I tried the 5.55 drivers last night (I'm currently running at 500mhz, stablity probs)
and my 3d mark score went from 2378 to 2565.

                      Nice, Good Work Matrox

And if Maggi is to be believed (I do) there is more to come!

                        Hiya,

installed the 5.55 drivers yesterday for my G400 only and tested them with 3DMark2000 (only the first three tests with the helicopter and the adventure stuff; hadn't much time). With 5.52 i got 2651 points, with 5.55 i got 2808, so they seem indeed to be faster.

                        Have fun

saud, it was the original creative geforce ddr, have to admit it was faster in quake 3, but I dont play that so it was like running a benchmark prog "thats fast, looks good- no gameplay".
When it was running it was faster, 3d games looked nice.... but it kept freezing(went thru all the bios changes) and the whole time I was testing it I couldnt get the thought out of my head GTS2/Voodoo5/G800, just hold on, wait the little while!

                          Cant wait........Must.....Hold..on!
(as it turns out it might be my pc playing up )
