  • Unreal Tournament detects no g400

I don`t know why, but my unreal tournament cannot detect the direct3d option, it simply runs in windowed direct3d mode. i rerun it in safe mode, edited the ini file, nothing changed. before 2 weeks or so it runs perfect, but possibly since i changed the g400 driver it detects no direct3d card. even older driver dont function anymore, i uninstalled 6.00, 5.55, nothing changed, same problem, uninstalled ut, deleted registry entries, no solution.

how does unreal tournament detect the graphic adapter ? i have tried 4.00, 4.20 but nothing worked. 4.20 worked before. every direct3d game i tested runs fine. i have played ut before, never had problems.

    my system:
    asus cubx
    cel2 566@850
    256 mb pc133
    g400 dh 32mb
    sblive value
    ibm dpta 20 gb
    teac 40x

    anyone has a solution ?

      This is weird ...

usually it uses the software renderer in windowed mode, unless you tweak manually the unrealtournament.ini.

What happens if you hit Alt-Enter ?
It should toggle between fullscreen and windowed mode ...

You could send me your unrealtournament.ini and I'd have a look into it whether anything's messed up.

      Cheers,

It happens to me once. The reason is simple (and stupid) in my case:
I forgot to install DirectX 7.0...
        It won't work with DX6.1a.

Same thing happened to me once. After reinstalling Win98, I couldn't get UT to run full screen. I noticed that I was back to an earlier version of DirectX. After re-loading 7.0 everything in UT was fine again.

it seems UT runs really really crappy on my computer... i have a G400 32mb with a C433 + 128 ram... i thought it would run a lot better than it does.. 640x480 is okay to play but not super great or anything.. above that it's kinda hopeless.
            Any suggestions? --> brispahn@island.net
            thanks guys!!

              UNREAL TOURNAMENT ROCKS ! (again)

i have found the solution.installed directx7a, nothing. i have installed 6.00.10 again, no difference, windowed mode. no alt tab function, nothing. edited unreal ini, no difference. installed directx 7 again, nothing. read this column again, and installed directx 7 the third time. and the it worked ! i dont know why directx is working only after the third time, but it worked. blame it on m$.
thanks for your help, no unrealtournament runs fine, with no tweaking all settings high it runs on my g400 in 1024*768*32 at an average 35-45 fps.

Bspahn and Kumse: Try posting your unreal.ini info. I'm sure someone here will be able to help get your fps up where it should be.

I would suggest you start a new thread.
