  • WHY IS D3D SO JERKY??

i bought the g400 max on the supposd strength of its D3D performance - yet in UT it freezes for about half a second every 5 minutes. This might not sound like a lot but, when in an online firefight, its an awful lot.
Where can i get some fast d3ddll files - does any1 have any that produce better results?

First off: what's your ping in UT-online-gaming?

Second: can you give me an IRQ list of your computer?

Third: Overall Specs Of Your Computer?

If your system is pausing at exact intervals, look to background programs causing the problem. Most notably are things like MS Office's "fast find" utility, virus scanners, system monitors, or anything else that might poll the system at regular intervals...

My ping is a very healthy 200 odd.
I switch fastfind off whenver i install office 97, so it can't be that BUT i do run norton antivirus in the background.

HOWEVER, i don't have the freezing problem with ANY other game(both d3d and dx) - in fact, i didn't have this problem with my old ati rage proi, so it's DEFINITELY the vid card or the d3d file from UT.

          Hi,

Hit ctrl alt del and kill off powerdesk.exe. You may have to try killing it several times before it actually goes off the list.
