  • New Manke Half-Life mod!

Just got this month's PC Gamer and it includes the 2nd part of his "They Hunger" series.

If you haven't played the first one, you really need to - it's fantastic (it's included with the 2nd one). You can only get it on the magazine's CD right now, but it'll prob. be available on PCG's web site in a month or so.

    Well worth the purchase price!

I played several levels of the first one, but kinda got tired of killing all the zombies. Then I got stuck trying to get around a minature volcano in the lava pit... and then forgot about the game...
Maybe I'll go back and revisit it. Any hints about that lava pit?

Hmm, don't remember any lava pit - can you be more specific?

Is it the spot where you start off on the railing and then it falls away? If so, it's a jumping puzzle - look for ledges below you - this is a good time to use the sniper rifle to clear things out so you can concentrate on jumping.

If you don't have the sniper rifle, I'd suggest restarting the game - you'll need it.

I agree that killing zombie after zombie gets old - but you're rewarded later when you have to go up against soldiers (who shoot REALLY well).

To make zombie killing more fun, use the crowbar - treat them like the zombies in HL - hit & back up. Hit & back up (or as Pauly in Rocky says "Stick & move, baby!")

In the room with the volcano, you have to jump into the steam coming up and fly up to a ledge.I had trouble with that for a while too.

Ahartman - the spot I'm having trouble with is right after that jumping puzzle -- once inside the cave at the bottom.

Gobrob - I thought I tried that, but got "steamed to death". I'll give it another try, Thanks.

Is anyone else having problems getting their Half-Life CD recognized when trying to start up TH2? I've got the game patched up to the latest and I've got the CD in the drive - I know the drive works as I just loaded the d@mn game. It just can't seem to find my HL CD.

            Any ideas?!?

As for the lava puzzle, I may play the first one thru again - I'll see what I can do for you.

Since I received my PCGamer yesterday (September edition in July?), and now have the new demo disk, I'll load it (when I get home) and see what happens.

As far as that volcano/lava puzzle, I tried Gobrob's suggestion, but still get blown to bits the instant I jump into the steam coming from the top of the volcano. I don't see any other steam nearby....

Definitely a problem with the 1.1.0.0 patch. Since Hunger2 says it requires version 1.1.0.0 I loaded that patch (was working fine with 1.0.1.6). Now I can't run custom games (at least not They Hunger). Game crashes to Desktop when I try to start it. The original Half Life still works. I haven't even tried loading They Hunger 2 yet, but I don't expect it to work either.

I took the CD out of my DVD player and put it in my RW drive and voila - it worked. Go figure.

As for the crashing problems - I haven't seen it yet but I've only played a little thru the first scene.

Does anyone know the map/scene number for the lava puzzle? I'll cheat my way there and see if I can figure out how I got thru it.
