  • New Beta D3D driver for UT

    Hello All,

For those who are interested, I saw over at VooDooExtreme that Epic has posted a new D3D .dll (Beta). I have not tried it, but I am quite sure I will after work. Regards.

    Who´s All? Just kidding.

I had severe problems with 425 patch, and now I´ve downloaded that dll you mentioned. I´m at work too, so I´ll try it on later.
425 was a major setback and letdown.
If I didn´t like UT so much, I´d say Epic people were complete losers.

I'm surprised too by Epic. Though at least the .dll seemed to work out all of my bugs.

At least they reacted fast enough

I guess I erred by including a salutation...I stand chastised.

Not that Epic needs any defending...but it must be extremely difficult to be all things to all people. I know absolutely nothing about programming, but am truly awed by the 3D interactive enviroment rendered by the UT engine. I suppose my ignorance of this is part of the reason I find these flying pixels so fascinating. From a fragging standpoint, I suck....but I love the rendered world. The saying holds true, in this case: "You can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time; but you can't please all of the people all of the time." Epic seems to be making the effort.

The speed is back. I was horrified when I loaded up 425 and saw the jerkiness. I just had to try out the new DLL during lunch since I only live a few blocks away from where I work. I didn't see any Z-buffer problems, but I didn't have a chance to play much. I only loaded up one level and ran around for a couple minutes. Looks good so far.

I had to use the beta dll which works fine, apart from that Z-buffer problem that´s starting to get on my nerves...

I think EPIC is sucking. I have never seen something like this. It´s taking too long to resolve the problem. It´s even worse for those who actually PAY for the game... eh, eh.

              yeah,

              now I am wondering:
where did you find a unrealtournament.exe version for 4.25 that works with your CD Alec? (email it to me if you would like to, please)

I had to use the Beta DLL as well. The Z-Buffering seems better, but it still has it's problems as well as the same edge problems the g200 has and the same texture corruptions as half life. I am starting to think a good portion of it is Matrox's drivers.

                  Hey dZeus,

                  try this link

Especially when you spent all your money, I recommend to run it from a backup CD ...

                    Just wondering...

The Z-buffer problem is not solved for most of you?

I mean ok so it might not be perfect at my house but still was is left is bearly noticable!

Look a CTF Face before and after the 425 and it's much better than it was!

The performance is better than 405b too in my opinion. I get 45-50 fps with 405b and 50-55 with 420 & 425.
