      I figured out something!

If I uninstall the second beta 6 drivers and downgrade to v5.52.015, then I get no more flickers in HL! If I repeat but upgrade to second beta 6 drivers, flickers come back.

What the heck? For now, I will stick with the non-beta drivers. Any ideas what is going on? Yes, I know they are beta drivers :P.

        D'oh!!!!

I just remembered something about those beta drivers you are using. The horrible flickering on decals appears only when running 32 bit z. With 16 bit z, the severity is nowhere near as bad, but you get z-buffer errors at a distance, and slight flickering on occassion.

Rags: Exactly! Those were my symptoms! I don't even recall having these problems a few weeks ago with the v6.0 beta drivers. Whatever, I don't need the beta driver anyways [grin].

Rags: ARGH! Now, Q3A is having the flicker problems (i.e. blood and blast marks). Dangit! [bangs head on desk]

Nevermind about Q3A flickers. Installing TurboGL driver helped. I guess beta 6.0 drivers already had TurboGL driver implemented, and I didn't see the flickers.
