  • 3D Games with G400 and Win2k

    Hi,
I have a small problem with games like Quake3 or ****erstrike. I only have 60 hz. The normal desktop uses 1280@85 with 5.03.025 because with the betas the games hang or I get very nice "vertical green lines"; and in the betas I have 60 hz too. Can anyboy help me?

    First, use the betas.
To get rid of the horizontal lines in HL/TFC/CS, add/change gl_ztrick 1 .
To get rid of the refresh rate problem, first make sure your monitor is properly selected in windows. Second, go to powerdesk and make your custom refresh rates for each resolution/colordepth you use to what you would use on the desktop, then save them and check the box that "allow windows to use this customization".

I'm having here stablity problems too. In the moment the curtain slides up, the game mostly freezes. If I manage to get behind this point, the game runs pretty stable. Any Ideas?
This shouldn't be a hardware problem, cause Win9x on the same System is performing well.

      Greetings, Lars

It very well could be a hardware problem. NT is more memory intensive and senstive to hardware errors than crappy 9x.

The command in Quake3 is gl_refresh (I believe). Put seta gl_refresh=85 in the baseq3\config.sys to fix it.

(Make sure the syntax matches your config.sys, I haven't done this in ages and I'm writing this from memory!)
