Sounds dead to me... Why don't you try it on another PC? (Or on another videocard, if you have one (or several )?)

This sounds the same as a problem I had with an ADI Microscan - the clicking noise and the blackness. Mine needed an output transistor replacing, which is quite pricey.
It might not be worth repairing such a model, so this might be an excuse to treat yourself to a nice new monitor.

AIEEEE!!!! My KDS Avitron AV-195T monitor's been making quite a few clicking sounds when it turns on or off, and occasionaly while it's on. And sometimes when it does it while it's on the screen'll cut out a little, as if it tried to turn off. Looks like it's time to have it replaced/fixed.

Hmm, just noticed that this is in the Gaming forum... Me thinks it needs to be moved to General Hardware.

...so, Jon, do you turn your monitor off when you play games and use sound only? ;-)

the clicking sounds are probably morse code saying "I'm dying".seriously though, hope it's not too expensive a problem.

I think I'll join the 'knackered monitor club' - my 21" dell 2128 at home decided it cannot do 85Hz last week - I get weird horizontal jittering - any other resolution seems fine, at the moment.
Also, on monday, my 17" IBM P72 wouldn't do anything but 'chirp'

It's still working ok, just makes a bunch of clicking/snaping/popping sounds when you turn it on or off, and the occasional snap+blink while it's on.

We already called, and they say a new one'll be out in a week. With any luck it'll be one of the newer flat-screen versions of the same monitor, since ours has been out of production for a while.
