  • Half-Life OpenGL with 8mb G200 in win2k low fps

Is anyone able play Half-life with g200 under win2k with decent fps? I can get 40fps with D3D at 640x480 but I get 20fps in OpenGL with constant graphical lag. I've tried turning off page flipping with mtsu and probably all the autoexec.cfg tweaks with pretty much the same result. Any suggestions?

    I run celeron433@488 192mb ram 8mb g200 if that helps.

Try using the 5.01 G200 ICD.
    C:\DOS
    C:\DOS\RUN
    \RUN\DOS\RUN

Thanks DosFreak, that improved the fps significantly! However, the opengl fps is still a bit slower than d3d, is there anything else I can do?

Try adding gl_texsort 1 to your autoexec.cfg file.

Yeah I already have gl_texsort 1, if i use gl_texsort 0 all the textures disappear

Can you cut and paste your entire autoexec.cfg?

By the way, what kind of fps should I be getting with my configuration?

                  Try changing:
                  gl_texturemode GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_LINEAR

                  to

                  gl_texturemode GL_NEAREST_MIPMAP_NEAREST

That's to make it look like software mode isn't it?

                      Dunno, did you try it?

Yeah I think I've tried that before, it makes it look like software mode and I don't think I want that
