  • Play q3a on tv-out in Win2k

When I enable dualhead clone in win2k, and play q3a, the image on the monitor is fine, but on the tv-out it seems like there is something completely wrong (as if the v-sync is wrong??)

I tried setting the r_displayrefresg to 50Hz, and playing, but it made no difference. Then I set it back to 75Hz, and enabled v-sync. Still no difference... can anyone tell me how to properly play q3a on the tv-out in win2k?

Did the same thing in Win 98, the image on the TV flickers.
Dark Reign 2, Drakan, Diablo 2, Starcraft work just fine.
I think it's mostly OpenGL games that flicker.
I have the second head connected to a VCR wich is in turn connected to a TV. I use the clone mode to record scenes and movies from games.

It's definately the result of V-Sync being off. You get massive flickering all over the TV screen. What ICD versions are you using? I think only the most recent supported the OpenGL extension for V-Sync (and not the TurboGL).

I have installed the 5.14 drivers (the latest drivers for Win2k, and certified by MS too).

I've tried running with V-Sync enabled, and setting r_displayRefresh at 50 Hz. No change. Any other way to make it work? one thing I noticed however was that my monitor was reporting 56Hz when I set the r_displayresfresh at 50.

          I just found the fix:

Open MTST Util, and set OpenGL V-Sync method to "Page Flipping - Always ON"

What's the deal with the 'Block Transfers' option in the Matrox Tweak Utility?
I tried Q3A with it selected and there were a series of horizontal lines across the display and humungous mouse lag. But the game did seem very smooth, and seemingly without the speed hit of enabling V-Sync.

Thanks dZeus, it works, only with the ICD, but it works
