  • Fellow Matrox Users lend me your ears

Guys I have a Celeron II 566 on the way to me and I was wonder if anyone else using a matrox g4xx card and a celeron II 566 could post some benches for me. I have been assured that the chip has run at 850 stably and as high as 928 stable.

    ------------------
Celeron 300a@464 on a Abit BH6 Rev 1.01, 192 Pc100, Matrox G400 32 SH, SBlive Value, Supra Express 56i ISA, all running on Win2k pro with other odds and ends
Celeron II 566@ 952 on a Abit BE6 Rev 1, 128 Pc100, Matrox G450 32 DH, SBlive Value, Supra Express 56i ISA, all running on Win2k pro with other odds and ends

    I have a Celeron 566 o/c to 850 and a G400 (non-Max) and my 3dMark2000 score is 2850.

There have been absolutely no instability problems with the chip. It went to 850 right out of the box. I haven't tried anything higher than that, as the jump from a K6-III 400 to Cel 850 was quite enough for me.

I'm using an Asus P2B-B motherboard.

I recently bought this 800e and the asus p3v4x with 128mb ram. I didn't realise yours was a celeron, got fooled by the gif showing pc config as intel p3. I guess that certainly changes things. Should I be getting better scores then? As for posting screen prints like you ...well I see I have alot to learn.

Nice score, but you have to realize that my CPU is a Celeron 566 @ 952MHz and I guess that you run a real Coppermine, don't you ?

To post those tables, I did a screenshot by pressing Alt-PrtScreen (copies the active window into clipboard), opened Photoshop, created new document, pasted, cropped to right size, flattened image, reduced to indexed colors, saved as GIF (way smaller than JPGs and looks better in this case), put it up to a webserver and linked it into here, using the UBB image tag.

But I don't need a proof for your score ...

On the other hand, I'd apreciate to see your detailed results, which can be saved into txt format for easy copy'n'paste into here.

Yes (better scores than mine), for two reasons:

Your L2 cache is twice the size of mine (256KB on P3 & 128KB on Cel-2) and
your FSB seems to be higher than mine (114.5x8=916 & 112x8.5=952) ...

If you'd make it also to 952MHz, your FSB would run @ 119MHz which should raise the gap between your and my system even further.

                      Cheers,
                      Maggi
