Hey,
I am having some issues with the G400 and Half Life/Counter Strike. Some of this is problably my fault because I'll have everything working fine, but then I'll try a new driver or tweak utility and screw everything up big time. So, on to the problem.
First, system specs:
Abit BH6, Celeron 450, 256MB RAM, IBM 30GB HDD, G400, Vortex2.
1. OK, I did a clean install of windows and used the 5.52 drivers. Had HL and counterstrike working great. Then i went and used that new tweak utility that matrox released last week. I set it to the speed settings in OpenGL and rebooted. Upon starting half life at 1024x768, the game reported that my video card doesn't support that mode. Well, it didn't work in any mode in OpenGL. D3D works fine (but who wants to use that?). So I set the utitily to the quality mode and rebooted. Still the same problem. So then I set it back to default mode and rebooted. Still doesn't work. Anyone have a clue how I can fix this without reformatting and installing?
2. This is just a side issue and not that big a deal, but I thought i'd give it go. Before I got my new HDD i was using the 6.xx series of drivers. The beta's and then finally the final version. Everyone of them caused HL to act up. The game would start in openGL mode, but the top left corner was blocked by the half life menu, but all garbled up. In the rest of the screen I could see the game fine.
I thought that maybe some of the 5.xx series of drivers were left over and causing problems. So when I got my new drive, I did a clean windows install with the 6 final drivers and same thing. I put on 5.52 and all is well (until that tweak util of course ). So why don't any of the 6.xx drivers work in half life for me?
Thanks in advance ya'll... I'll be playing CS in D3D and waiting for ya'lls help.
