  • Haig or R0M-> re: Turbogl installer & quake1

Could someone there get Q1 added to the turbogl installer?
We get a lot of questions about how to make it work.
TGL works great with Q1. Please update the installer to recognise it!
    TIA

PS In fact, it works so much better than the the gl on my TNT-2 at work it's unbelievable!
    Go for it!

    Good point, Chuck !

Same applies for KingPin and probably all games that are based on the Quake engine ...

Maybe we could start a compatibility list ?

I'll check out S.o.F. tonight and also if it boosts my G450 compared to the ICD.

    Cheers,

Gee, I haven't loaded up Quake1 in a long time. It got me into net games. Heh, I remember, before Quakeworld, it was a lagathon for anyone without a high-speed connection (back then, basically only people at work and in universities had high-speed net). Ice skating was fun

Yeah, thats a good idea! I tried TGL with Quake1 and got an huge boost in speed. It should work with any Quake engine game. But I don't have any other Quake based games except Half-Life.

HL isn't Quake based. It's QuakeII, and heavily modified at that.

Somebody was talking about Kingpin, but I've never even seen it played.

HL is Quake I with a smattering of Quake 2.

Kingpin is very good, uses the Quake 2 engine, I guess, but it´s a bit more hardware-demanding. Very dark, street gang game.

BTW, Half-Life has the best AI in the world or not? (damn cool game, we need a sequel).

              Kingpin rocks ...

but Soldier Of Fortune is way more cruel and the built in AI kicks H-L's butt (IMHO).

S.o.F. is built on the Q2 engine, but that one got heavily optimized ... I didn't have the time yesterday to check out whether the TGL supports it or not.

              I'll keep you posted.

                Alec,
If you liked HL, pick up the Opposing Force add-on. I have it. It's pretty decent. Lots of new toys, and now the infantry is on your side. They have some decent coding, and seem to play like a team, like splitting up to watch entrances to an area when there aren't any enemies around.
