Is it just me or is everyone else getting
also ridiculous fps's with OpenGL games?
I get something like 10 fps with the Alice
demo and 30 fps tops with Tuxracer (get it
from www.tuxracer.com). Come on people, this is not acceptable
I have the newest drivers from the Matrox
site (Pdesk 6.10.013), just uninstalled the
them with the uninstall utility and
reinstalled them. I have also tried a bunch
of older drivers to no avail. I do not have
any IRQ conflicts on my system, and I do
have the latest AGP drivers for my motherboard. DirectX games play very well
indeed.
Weird thing is when I copy the old turboGL
file (opengl32.dll) from an old driver
installation to the Alice demo dir, the fps's
are something like my screen refresh, 85 or
so! Now what's this? Matrox decided to drop
the TurboGL from the new drivers and let
people suffer from almost ten times worse
performance? I hope not... I have to mention
that the TurboGL driver does not work without
problems with Alice, the animations do not
move at all. I'm only able to see the first
frame of them.
I'm just wandering, do the Matrox drivers
still suck? Are they ever going to end their sucking? Or am I missing something and
making a complete dumbass of myself ?-) Let
me hear your thoughts about this..
System specs:
Abit KT7 w/ VIA chipset
900Mhz T-Bird
320Mb Ram
G400 DH 32Mb (o/c@170Mhz, no problems)
Win98
