  • how to trick TurboGL into detecting Gunman Chronicles?

Still using PD 5.52 for gaming because of issues in Midtown Madness 2.
That said I would like to know how to trick TurboGL(1.302) into detecting Gunman Chronicles. It uses the unmodified Half Life engine as far as I know. Any ideas ?
I don't have powerdesk running, either in the taskbar or at startup, should I ? For TurboGL to work I mean..

BTW: The game is quite ugly but fun to play, made by enthusiasts.

First you got to have TurboGL installed on your system (just run the setup and install it if you haven't). Btw, when you install it, the first thing it does is searching for games that support TGL.
Second, if you don't have PD running in the taskbar so you can't right click on it and acces the TGL manager, go in C:\Windows\System and run PDGLUTIL.EXE, it will start the manager (make a shortcut to it for easy access).
Third, if it's a game that the TGL manager won't recognize, but it's based on the Q2, Q3,HL engine, on a game with wich TGL works, you can manually put opengl32.dll in the folder where you have installed that game.
For that you have to install TGL on Quake3 or a game the manager detects and get opengl32.dll from there (save it in a folder somewhere for when you need it).|

      Thanks Admiral, will try that.
And about my last question, yes I ran the util already, what I meant to ask was; after it has detected a game does it just put a DLL in the game folder for the game to use or do I need powerdesk running at startup for it to function ? (my system fetish : to have only processes running that are needed )

When it detects it, select the game and check the box in front of it (or click on select all) and then click on Install driver. It puts opengl32.dll in the folder where the game is installed and you don't have to run PD in the background.
BTW, the TGL manager has a legend, if the game shows in green the latest TGL is installed, if it shows in blue you have an outdated one installed and if it shows in red you don't have it installed.
To be certain just go check if it has put opengl32.dll in the game folder.
A further check would be in the game settings, if it has a driver info option like Quake3 or STV it will show wich driver it's using (the ICD or TGL).

(btw, I have the same fetish )

          Seems to be working, thx.
The framerate doesn't make the game any prettier though, man this game is UGLY !
