  • Where are the Alice fixes?

Sheesh, I loaned my cousin my Alice because I got to a place where the FPS made it unplayable. He's finished the game and brought it back.
Come on already, I want to play it!!

I guess the only good news is that I've really gotten a long way in Rune now.

There are some prototype drivers on Matrox's Developer Relations site. Usually new drivers come one or two weeks after the proto drivers.
This time it's a bit strange, the proto drivers are dated 21 of November, same date as PD 6.10.
Don't get it, they forgot to remove the old proto drivers (the ones before 6.10) ?
They just put that date to confuse, so nobody would estimate when new drivers will be out ?

My opinion is that we'll ither have them before Xmas or something around January 10 2001.

I think he/she was referring to the game patch that someone from the makers of Alice said they had fix and a patch would be out soon. The slowdown has nothing to do with the matrox drivers, it was in the game. I am also waiting for that game patch too

Plus you can't use the prototype drivers it's password protected, not that I would want to anyways

I didn't say he/she can use the prototype drivers, only people registered with the developer reations team can access them (the beta boys).
I was only trying to give a hint to when new drivers will be out.
I didn't knew there was a patch in the making, I only remember someone saying that Matrox knows about the problems with Alice and they'll fix it soon.

I think this is something to look to the game maker for, not drivers. I have played the demo of the game on the latest unreleased drivers, and the slow downs are still there.
R0M's post here: http://216.162.101.9/ubb/Forum4/HTML/004546-2.html indicated they know what is wrong, and we should hear from the game creators about a fix. To me, this indicates a game bug. Hopefully they will be quick in producing a patch...

Copy the TurboGL file into the directory with Alice.exe. That will fix the performance, but a few other problems will pop up. Movies will no longer play right, saved games won't have preview pics, and the health bar won't be all the way to the right.

            /Edit
Forgot to mention that you need to use MSTUtil to set the OpenGL mode to Accuracy.

Yes, I understood that the menu was a Matrox fix, and the slow FPS was a Rogue fix. I was just hoping someone out there had heard something.
I'll pass on the Turbogl and wait for the patch. After all, the gameplay isn't what makes Alice so nice, but the interactive story and graphics. If the movies don't work right, then you're losing a big part of what makes this game good.
I'll just keep my fingers crossed and continue catching up on Rune, Hitman, and BGII. You just feel a little ripped off when you preorder, can't play the games, and then places like Best Buy have incredible sales while you're *STILL* unable to play.. oh well, that's life I guess...

                jws,

                >If the movies don't work right, then you're losing a big part of what makes this game good.

There are only four movies in Alice,

                ealogo
                roguelogo
                opening
                ending

I suppose you've already seen the first three plenty of times.

Oh really? I didn't realize that. I've got 3 out of 4 then
I guess I'll do the turbogl thing then and hope they finish the patch before i finish the game.

                  Thanks for that tidbit..
