  • Oni Demo

When I run the Oni demo, I get a flashing/rolling effect in the main menu like when I TV has it's vertical hold messed up. I'm running Win2K and 5.04 drivers. Anyone else have this problem?

Yeah I have the same problem. It's real crappy on my RT2000's G400 dual-head (with DX8 and PD 6.10).

I tried changing resolution settings and I got a screen full of garbage - I couldn't get out with any combination of key, so I had to do a hard reset.

There's no mention of Matrox boards in the readme.

I would stay away from this demo until someone fixes it...

Right now I just got done messing around with the demo, and it works fine for me under win2k. Try some newer drivers.

I had problems as well but not too bad:

        1) No textures on walls and models.
        2) I can't see the console, yellow floors, etc.
        3) Switching to 16-bit color depth give me a blank screen, and I have to reset the computer. The music was still playing and I couldn't end task the game

My desktop configuration: http://alpha.zimage.com/~ant/antfarm.../computers.txt (I am using the latest Matrox drivers).

This demo works fine for me under Win ME BUT...

I had to revert to previous drivers. Use the WHLQ drivers and the demo works fine.

The latest drivers gave me headaches because it had a lot of texture corruption in game.

The certified drivers work great with all games now.

PS This game looks good IMO!!

I didn't solve it. I played without the textures. Eventually, I gave up. I will try again later if there is a fix or a newer demo.

I think I'm going to just put in my good old voodoo 2 and check things out.

Wow, what a world of difference. I'm running 98se and the 6.04 drivers/dx8 work pretty well. I do get crazy garbage when I switch resolutions, but I was able to get through the missions okay. And I didn't have to put the ICD in my Oni folder either.

                    Thanks.

Is it just me or does it seem that with the Oni demo you have to bascially reinstall it each time you run it? Other than that I have had no real problems with it.

Yeah, just run WinZip or something on oni_demo.exe to unzip the whole bunch to a fixed place.
