W2K, G400MAX, QuakeIII Wont run

I have just installed Q3 and when I try to run it I get a white screen and complete lock-up of my system. I am running W2k, Athlon 700 processor, Abit KA7 MB, SB Live, and the latest Matrox drivers ( driver package 5.26.0126, PowerDesk 6.20.029 ) Direct X 8.0, "graphics BIOS 1.6-25" When i try to execute the game and get the white screen and lock-up, all I can do is either hit the shut-down button on my PC or the reset button. Any help with this would be Greatly Appreciated!

I *know* that there is an AGP VIA fix for W2k from microsoft, but I don't have the fix or the url, but I do know that it exists. Well, it's a start for ya at least....

Check in your Q3A folder for a file called opengl32.dll, if it's in there, rename it to something else, like opengl32.bak.

also make sure that your desktop is 16 or 32 bit colour!
