Windows 2000 Problems Galore to solve!

Ok, so the subject may be a little misleading, but at least you are reading it
I have been having some horrible problems with my windows 2000 gaming performance (even non-gaming). When i start my computer with any drivers other than the 5.04 W2k drivers(i've tried the 5.04,5.14,5.21 and 5.31 drivers), i get a screen crap out before any programs are loaded into the task bar. When i use the 5.04 drivers, desktop work is fine, but as soon as i load up UT or Quake III, i get a screen corruption (with Q3A) or my game simply locks up(in UT), i don't seem to have any problems with Escape from monkey island, or Age of Empires II. Baldur's gate was also running fine before i started having these problems (havent tried since i started having issues with the drivers). Diablo II seems to work no problems with the 5.04 drivers in D3D, and TDR also ran fine before i started having the problems (i had been using 5.20 for a while with no problems). I also had issues before but when i installed the 5.20 drivers the problems seemed to stop for a while. I suppose you could say that my big problems have been around since i got my real magic Hollywood + dvd card. I will include my IRQ list so you can get some idea of the current setup of the system:

I realized half way through copying that some of the information is not relevant and that is why you don't see my entire listing. Any thing that you can tell me that may solve my problems will be appreciated

I would also be interested in seeing your complete IRQ list as well. It would give us some ideas on what your system sees, and what mode it's installed in.

I did like gurm said, and tried to change the location of the card, i was unable to change the configuration, but when i moved it to another slot in the case, i was able to to change the IRQ to 10. It didn't seem to help any for UT though, the game still bailed. Anyways, the updated list goes something like this:

Looking at the list, i suppose i could have included the last 1, but didn't realize how much little work was left in doing so. I don't exactly understand the statement about understand what mode it is in, it don't make any sense to me, although it is 4:15 in the morning as i write this...

Anyways, that is the new listing that i have. Does it give u guys any other ideas as to what might be going on?

try one of these fixes:

- The name of the conflicting driver is "vpfilter". In w2k open the device manager. Open the "view" menu and check "Show hidden devices". Under "Non-plug and play drivers" you will see a device called "Vpfilter". Right-click on this device and uninstall it. On my PC, this brought back the monitor controls. I have not seen any malfunctions in the H+ after doing this. I even went so far as to rename (and later delete) "vpfilter.sys" which is located in the \winnt\system32\drivers\ directory (as far as i recall). I then reinstalled the latest H+ non-beta drivers and "vpfilter.sys" did not return

- If you have a Creative DXR3 dvd decoder card with the Enc2 Video filter installed under windows2000, do the following:
1 - Go into device manager
2 - Go up to the view box, top left, click on show hidden devices and a load of devices should appear
3 - Go to the non plug and play devices section and find the Enc2 Video Filter device and disable it
4 - Close device manager, and reboot. Now the display drivers should work

Well, I did as dZeus said, and the problems seem to have gone away (i have even reinstalled Pdesk 5.31). I don't know why, but i get this nagging feeling that my system stability won't last (i thought that the 5.14 drivers would not crash on me before i got the RealMagic Card, and they did, i still didn't have the realmagic card)
So i am keeping my fingers crossed and knocking on wood. By the way dZeus, the way you posted those instructions it looked like they came from some sort of troubleshooting guide, not to go against your help.(considering it fixed my problem) Now if i do have more issues (for example if my drivers bail on me again and i have to re-re-resort to Pdesk 5.04, you can expect more discussions from me!)
