  • Colin Mc Rae Rally 2 crashes G400.DLL at fault

I use drivers 5.12 under W2K. Anyone else having the same problem (So far I can play the arcade mode but if I choose the rally mode or Network play it crashes randomly)

It creates a X_MODE Exception NOT HANDLED ERROR, BSOD and reboots after 5 seconds

I never had a BSOD in Win2k with Colin McRae Rally 2... I am running the 5.31 drivers, so try those

I had that same problem even with the 5.31 drivers. I use a via system and after removing the extra usb card, I didn't get those crashes anymore. I'm using 4in1 4.25. 4.27 trashed my system and I'm too much of a chicken to try the 4.28.

      Ciao

you aren't telling me that Whistler has less bugs than Win2k, are you?

          I´m guessing he does.

Wonder were he got that from.

And whistler is painfully slow for the moment.

Heh. Whistler is no where near ready right now, a suggestion like that means that you are either joking or misinformed.

I have installed the 5.31 drivers last night and reinstalled CMR 2 under Win2K, it seemed to work past stage one and then I had a terrible crash afterwards. The Microsot Support site mumbles something about Overclocking but too many games are running stable under Win2K (Like Unreal Tournament) so I guess it can't be that easy

Go into device manager and disable error control on your USB ports, or just disable your USB altogether and try it again.

Ehm disable USB ports ? I have paid good money for my USB Force Feedback Sidewinder steering wheel just to play this game sir

Sidenote : After my upgrade to 5.31 drivers the crash screen displays g400D.DLL as the source of error.

                    *sigh*

I already knew what you were using on your USB port, I also have seen about 5 dozen complaints of this with win2k and various Asus boards and their usb ports. Yes, it happens with all video cards. I just offered you the solution. Get rid of the USB board that you have attatched (if you have them attatched) and use the onboard usb ports, but go into device manager and disable USB error detection on your usb ports. If there is no change, then you will have to play the game without using the USB ports, which I know can be done, sir.

All the problems I have seen point to USB mice and certain FF wheels *cough*sidewinder*cough*.

I just tried out the 4.28 drivers and it still had this error with my usb card installed. But this time, it took longer to lock up. I then went into the graphic details section and put all 3 options to low and no more lock ups. So for me, using via 4.28 with the detail settings set to low, I get no locks ups and my usb card is back in. No all I gotta do is wait for a patch to enable FF.

Even with the 4.25 4in1 and all details set to low, it would still lock on my with my usb card installed. So I guess this new 4in1 does something to the usb support but not enough I guess.

                              Ciao
