  • G400 and Tribes2 - will it stand the test?

Quite frankly. Will the vanilla G400 stand Tribes2 on a Duron setup?

This is basically what this year is about - finding a G400 DH (a used one, still looking!!) for the TV-out and playing the game of the year - when it comes out - hopefully within the next two months.

    Only time will tell.

It depends on how much they reworked their code. The original was programmed almost exclusively for the NVidia cards in OpenGL. I never got the OGL to work on my G200. Never tried with my G400.

I don't even know if they stuck with OGL or if they went D3D...

I played Tribes1 on my G200 .. sort of .. in OGL. Not much of an experience.
The engine has been rewritten and should be OGL only .. and this time OGL for 'everyone'.

So, generally speaking, how does the G400 perform in OGL (think: properly programmed OGL)??

Sort of speculative .. but still ..

I ended up sending the original tribes back for a refund because I got so pissed off over the original game's problems with opengl on my G400. (and with Opengl in general)..

I don't play any OGL games, so I'm not sure.

I played Q3 a little and that seemed to work just fine. 1024x768 res.
