Quake 3 Team Arena

I've recently got a copy of Q3TA and it seems to run fine most of the time but every now and then I get a screen freeze which stops me doing anything (except a hard reset). When the freeze happens, I usually got a totally still, but still clearly rendered picture and whatever tone was last playing through the sound card plays continuously.

Anyone else seen this? Any hints?

I also have Q3A and haven't had any (recent) problems with it.

My System:
AMD K6III-450
FIC (VIA) Mobo
192 MB PC100 RAM
15GB HDD
G400 32MB DH - 6.11 drivers (6.25 downloaded to try later)
SB Live Value

you're not overclocking anything? Maybe something is overheating in your case, like the CPU?

Nah, not overclocking anything, not even the CPU (although I've been considering it recently) As I say, the computer works fine in every other game, Q3A, Unreal Tournament and a few other less violent games
