          Crimson Skies.

Best game I've played in ages, certainly on a pc, despite the 1001 bugs in it. Multiplayer is even more fun.

I just finished Red Alert 2

And the Sisko & Kira levels of Deep Space 9: The Fallen (still have to play as Worf).

I'm now looking into Project IGI, which looks cool

                Cool. Thanks folks.

I figure its wiser to ask people with a G400 or other matrox card what games they like cause I don't wanna go buy a game and have it run too slow FPS wise.

I know the video card is usually the limiting factor for most games, but if I step up to a KT-133a or DDR motherboard with a T-bird 1.2, will I notice improvement in game play 3D acceleration wise?? From my Asus K7M (100 mhz FSB and 2x AGP) and my Classic Athlon 550 and G400 max?

You won't get much higher average FPS, but the gameplay will be smoother with a bit more constant frame-rates. Of course this also depends on the resolution, but at least at 1024x768x32 the G400 is the limiting factor with modern games even with your config. So the gain in games won't be very big, but the overall system performance will be MUCH higher making this upgrade worthwhile.
I know because I did a similar upgrade: From an Asus K7M with Athlon600 to an ABit KT7-RAID with a Duron800@1050 (currently, still a bit experimenting here )

PS: According to games I would add FAKK2 - mainly for it's much better looks than Q-III, although this is somewhat slow on the G400 regardless of CPU-speed in anything higher than 800x600 when all settings are max'ed.

Unfortunately this is true for most newer games, think of Mercedes Benz Truck Racing (I didn't like the actual game but those trucks do look realistic) or Giants or...
I'm not demanding that much for calling gameplay "smooth", to me 30fps is enough but the G400 is nowadays not anymore able to deliver this when you don't turn of most of the eye-candy.
With ATI's recent massively reduced prices I couldn't resist anymore and got myself a Radeon 64MB VIVO for 230$. It seems there'll be no new Matrox gfx card in the next few months and I was tired of waiting even last year... (besides Matrox didn't even really deny those rumors that they're giving up on 3D and focussing fully on the bussiness-market).
If the G800 comes finally out and it is a good card WITH 3D I'll probably wait a few additional months until the prices are reasonable and then get one.

Gotta say I'm extremely disappointed with the performance of Colin Mcrae 2 using a G400 MAX on a Athlon 1GHz system. I have to turn car and track detail down even at 800x600 to stop it repeatedly choking and becoming a slideshow

Ant: it's actually quite playable on my P3@933Mhz with G400 vanilla ... the trick is to disable the shadows and lower the render distance to 5... embm doesn't really decrease performance much in this game (why?). Everything else is at max

Update: oh, and of course run at 1024x768x16 in stead of x32... while racing, I don't notice that much of a difference in visual quality anyway, at least not enough to justify the performance-loss associated with it.

Cool. More and more games. Perhaps I'll try a few. I'm just bookmarking this page thread under cool games.

I hope I can still check it out if replies die down in the future.

When does a message thread get deleted?

When? Usually when the hackers attack and bring the server down. Or when you piss a moderator enough.
Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.
