  • Games crash with hardware acceleration

As above. Quake2, Combat Simulator, Hasbro Gunship all crash as the game is "Loading".
Get Fatal Exception OE occured at 0028:C1731A6C and other numbers.
Will run ok, but in software mode if I reduce or uncheck Hardware Acceleration.
    System...
Matrox G200 with 5.25 drivers, new Soltek KAV mobo with VIA KT133a chipset, Duron 750 o/c to 850, 256 SDRAM, etc.
Have unclocked CPU but no difference.
Matrox shares IRQ 11 with 4 (!) ACPI PCI Holder for PCI IRQ Steering, (should there be 4 showing??), 2 x USB Host Controller, my modem's Enumerator, (I have moved it once to another IRQ butit made no difference and has come back to IRQ11) and SCI IRQ used by ACPI Bus.
IRQ looks a bit overloaded but there are no conflicts listed.
Is there a simple answer to this. I would love to get back to Quake!!
    Many thanks,

    John Lowe UK

Win98, (Not SE), and I think VIA 4.24a, (they are dated 1st August 2000).
      Thanks
