Most games suddenly not working? WHY?

I have just come to try and play Unreal Tourny and it wouldn't work, I have tried a few other of my games and only Fifa 2001 and Half Life work, they all worked yesterday what is going on? Here are some of the error messages:-

Unreal Tourny
In D3D - Critical Error, Failed blt=DD_ok (then more speel)
In Open GL - Critical Error, General Protection Fault (then more speel)

Project IGI
Fatal Error: Invalid FPU rounding mode. May be caused by running a debug session with ftol optimization turned on.

B-17 - Crashes to desktop

Deux Ex - Crashes to desktop.

What is going on, help please.....

maybe the fan on the CPU is failing?

Maybe you've been running the CPU overclocked for some time now, and it has burned up? This of course is something only you can tell
