I was disappointed when I threw my money away on Unreal. I was equally disapointed when I dumped cash on UT
Rest assured, I will not be wasting my bucks on UT2
Core2 Duo E7500 2.93, Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, 4gig 1066 DDR2, 1gig Asus ENGTS250, SB X-Fi Gamer ,WD Caviar Black 1tb, Plextor PX-880SA, Dual Samsung 2494s
Unreal 2 (not UT2)is a game that I have been waiting for since I heard that it was in the planning stages. It will have a whole new engine that is supposed to be nothing short of miraculous. "For starters, the polygon count in the environment and character models has been increased tenfold". Here is a link where you can download the demo movie that shows off the new engine. http://www.dailyradar.com/features/g...ge_1444_1.html
Looks like it will be stunning.
It is due out in the 1st quarter of 2002 (long wait). If my system won't handle it, by then it will be time for an upgrade anyway. This will give me a good excuse!
it's a bit difficult to judge from one shot (the last), but it seems that they finally manage to make a decent lighting engine... at least much better than the fugly Unreal/UT imlpementation.
Although i didn´t like Unreal or UT, I have to say that the screenies looks quite nice. But still in my opinion it´s uglier than the DOOM3 shots we saw a while ago.
Actually, IMO it's the other way around. UT's gameplay has always ruled Q3A's. Quake's movement's just feel unnatural, and the dual-mode weaponry in UT is 10X Q3's. Not to mention that somehow UT's weapons seem to be more accurate somehow (it feels more like my weapons are shooting where my crosshairs are or something, which Q3 always seems off for some reason).
Hehe. I've just wanted the extra graphical goodness, of which I admit Q3 has a big advantage over UT.

Too bad we'll all need Geforce 3's / Radeon 2's / or Matrox G9000's to play this damn thing. Here comes the latest reason to spend retarded amounts of money upgrading our systems.
