  • Diablo 2's glasses in act 4?

After seeing http://www.lurkerlounge.com/stsi/stsi0102.shtml screen shot, I see glasses. How come I never saw those in my D2 games? Is it something to do with my Matrox G400 (32 MB dualhead; non-MAX) card? Does anyone see this?

    Thanks.

I seem to recall seeing glass, but I wouldn't swear to it.
I don't have any charactors on act 4 at this point to take a look. Next time i'm there I'll try to keep an eye out.

It's also possible you just didn't get any glass on that map. It generates a new map for each new game, and sometimes doesn't use all of the textures available. The first time I played through act2, I never saw any red portals in the area by the Summoner...but when I played the same level on-line with a freind, those portals where everywhere.

diablo 2's level generation is quite random, and windows are quite seldom, and you do not always notice them, AND all this is processed on a 2d directDraw-level, so i don't think your graphics card could display everything but the windows..

so i think you just haven't seen any windows yet, there is no problem with your system

Hmm... I play a lot of D2 and visit hell a lot. Maybe I have a bad luck heh. I thought maybe my video drivers were broken or something .

i've seen glasses once or twice on my mil 1, and i don't think the video card has anything to do with the random dungeon (ok, not dungeon, level) creation.. if you play closed battle.net, the server creates your games, and you can be pretty sure it doesn't look what video card you have first

may be though that the glasses were only in before or after a patch... maybe they took them out because they were always floating freely? (or they activated them later because they thought there were no bugs with them, which is obviously wrong, although it's just a minor and fun one )

In single player (local) the glasses are always there. On bnet they get spawned only now and then. They serve no particular purpose but to distract zookeeper minions.

We're both talking about local single player, right??? I have yet to bump into the windows on bnet, but they never failed to be there when playing off line. That could have been before 1.05 though.

Yep, I have played both single player locally and multiplayer (TCP/IP on the Internet) without Battle.net.
