Could you please bench the PD5.52/TurboGL combination as well?

TurboGL?

I've done quite a bit of testing 5.52 Full ICD vs 1.30 TGL in Q3A. I found that the difference is generally plus or minus 2 percent except for one glaring exception; 640x480 can yield a TurboGL advantage of as much as:
v1.11, demo001: 19.48% in 32-bit while just 3.85% in 16-bit.
v1.11, demo002: 21.51% in 32-bit while just 3.43% in 16-bit
In Q3A 1.27h, the differences are even more startling:
v1.27h, demo127: 34.38% in 32-bit and 20.94% in 16-bit for 640x480
v1.27h, demo127: 8.84% in 32-bit while just 2.82% in 16-bit for 800x600
Tests performed on a G400 Max driven by a P!!!/850. I've also done some testing with my previous P!!!/450 processor. I've been meaning to complete the testing and post the results in the benchmark forum but I'm too busy doing productive work with my PC right now.<TABLE BGCOLOR=Red><TR><TD><Font-weight="+1"><font COLOR=Black>The world just changed, Sep. 11, 2001</font></Font-weight></TR></TD></TABLE>

Ok, so have we reached a consensus? What i`ve read on some threads ( including this one ):
For Win98/Me:- 5.52 have the fastest ICD
5.52 with TurboGL are in some cases even faster
5.52 are even faster than 5.41 beta, while having less bugs
5.52 use DirectX6 ( bad thing i presume )
- 6.50 are slower than 5.52
6.50 are more compatible and stable
6.50 have bug fixes for certain Games
6.50 use DirectX7 ( Good thing )
Have i missed anything? Now, what i want to know is whether 5.52 Direct3D is faster than 6.50.
Indiana, do u suggest using PDesk 5.52 for the games that work with it, or perhaps PDesk 6.50 with the ICD from 5.52 ( or even TurboGL ), if it`s possible? If the answer is PDesk 6.50 + 5.52 ICD, which are the files we need to overwrite? Or maybe it`s possible to use 5.52/TurboGL ICD for the Games with no bugs, while using 6.50 ICD for the newer games? ( by overwriting the ICD when we play a 5.52 buggy game )

I wouldn't put it that exclusively, PD5.52 with TGL where supported was the fastest overall here on my system (AMD) (OGL and DX-performance / stability-wise, working overlays on the second head, better DVDMax performance with PAL). Some others were experiencing the same, but this will always depend on the specific config and the games/apps you're using. The Tirtanium benches above are merely that, benches of Tirtanium without any necessary predictive value for other OGL apps.
If you need some of the fixes in the newer ICD you'll have to use this, but in my case nothing of particular interest was fixed with the 6.x drivers so I kept returning to 5.52.
I don't know if the 5.52 ICD will work with PD6.50... I never tried this as here the 5.52 was better not only for OGL, but also DX and video-apps.
Now I can't try, cause I got myself a Radeon and I really can't be bothered to put my G400 back in just for this.

@Cking : Sooo, PDesk 5.52, w/ TurboGL for supported Games. and the 6.10 ICD for the Games not supported by TurboGL, right? And using DX7a.
Any difference ( speed-wise ) between DX7 & DX8 ne1?
CKing, could u post results ( framerate ) on the intro? Start Game, skip intro, start timedemo, then Multiplayer>Reconnect to Server to start intro again ( that`s how i do it ). Try noting the last Av.FPS right on the very end of the intro ( after Unreal Tournament logo appears, before the intro starts again ). Or just post a result, and tell me what to measure, which map etc. etc.
C u guys.

Oh, and another thing ... is G400icd.dll the only file of the ICD? ( stupid question, but gotta make sure ) Also, how do i replace with another one, from a different driver package? Do i simply rename G400icd.dl_ into G400icd.dll?

Open g400icd.dl_ in WinZip, telling it that the file you're looking for is g400icd.dll, then extract your file! (g400icd.dll)
And as Mr Rags said, "Bingo!"

Ok guys, i`ve done some benchmarking, and it seems that for me 6.50 are the fastest! Strange, a lot of people got better results from older drivers, but not me. So here they are ( for UT, 4.36 )
PDesk 5.52, UT intro
1024, 16 : No Decals, No dyn. Light, Trilinear = 43.47
1024, 16 : Decals, dyn. Light, Trilinear = 39.21
PDesk 6.50
1024, 16 : No Decals, No dyn. Light, Trilinear = 49.15
1024, 16 : Decals, dyn. Light, Trilinear = 44.27
+1 FPS when using only Bilinear Filtering.
In Half-Life, 6.50 are also faster than 5.52, about 10%, but using TurboGL 1.30 with PD6.50, it`s even faster, about 20% ( there`s the flashlight bug though )
Run on :
Abit BE6II
P3 500
256 Mb RAM
Maxtor 15GB UDMA66
Matrox G400 16Mb SGRAM SH
I noticed a BIG increase in FPS once i oc`d the CPU to 550MHz, around 4 FPS in UT, or 10%, i wonder what will i get with a 900-1Gig P3. I mean, 10% for a mere 50MHz is a lot.
BTW, what`s the diff between G400`s with SG and SD RAM?

OEM G400's used SDRAM, Retail G400's used SGRAM. SGRAM is slightly more expensive and is theoretically slightly faster.
But in real world performace, increases range from 0-1 fps.Primary system specs:

SOME oem G400s used SDRAM, but many also used SGRAM. If you don't know what kind your card has, you can find that info in Powerdesk, in the info section.Core2 Duo E7500 2.93, Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, 4gig 1066 DDR2, 1gig Asus ENGTS250, SB X-Fi Gamer ,WD Caviar Black 1tb, Plextor PX-880SA, Dual Samsung 2494s
