  • ICD swapping not possible ?

    Hi,

I just tried to replace the "G400icd.dll" (version 5.52) in C:\Windows\System with the 6.10 version. Now, Half Life & OP Forces claim that my graphics card is not supporting 800 x 600 resolution !!!?

Have the TGL V1.3 running, but removed HalfLife from it`s list before.

Rest of the system (Win98SE) is fine.

Any ideas ? Any advice would be appreciated !

I think only the PD6.x ICDs are swapable?

Yes, you have to use the 6.x drivers.

LOL, LS and I were posting on top of one another.

The interchangeable ICD's work with Win9x 6.x, Win2k 5.2x and higher, and NT 4.2x and higher.

Liquid Snake & Rags - thank you very much for your super fast replies.

Problem is that I want to keep the DX-part of the 5.52 drivers because of Colin McRae Rally 2.0 getting significantly slower otherwise.

Is this possible ? I mean using the 6.xx PD but DX from PD5.52 ?

                Try a newer ICD ...

At some point of time the got exchangable across all major OS's and I think PD6.10 is just too old.

Right now I take each ICD that comes in latest and throw it into all apropriate system folders and it works fine.

                Cheers,

Erm, i used PD5.52 with the 6.10 & 6.50 ICD, with no problems in HL. Can you run HL in 640 at all? Weird.

Did you extract the G400.dll from g400.dl_ or ... ? I didnt notice any problems. In fact, i swapped the ICD`s a number of times, i used TGL 1.30, again with no problems. Try a reinstall of the PDesk 5.52, then try swapping again.
