  • To all you Ultima series lovers, which was your favorite and why?

My favorite has to be Ultima IV, great storyline, I really felt like I was the avatar striving for avatarhood. Only game that has taken me 7 months to complete and that was an awesome 7 months. That game proved to me that a great in-depth storyline and good gameplay can negate the supposed NEED for flashy graphics and sound.

Ultima VII was the next best. Again GREAT storyline. Batlin really pissed me off hehe, and the guardian really was creeping me out.

I'd have to agree, Ultima IV was the best. Though I never managed to play Ultima II. Ultima IX was really cool, but you had to have some massive hardware to be able to play it decently. In fact I started going through the game a second time, just so I could pass all the little side-quests now that I have a much faster computer. Talk about RAM hog. I also will have to agree that Ultima VII was the second best. Actually you can play that one in windows and linux now with the Exult program. Laters.

I am with you too, IV was the best Ultima. I started playing it some 13 years ago on my C64 and i still haven't solved it...

I also played I, II, III, V and VI. But to be honest, none of them reached IV while i think that technically V was the best. I hate VI and from what i have seen i hate everything after that.

Call me a sucker, but i like these tiny icons representing a whole group and i hate these superdetailed, slow and incredible stupid characters running around and getting stuck in doorways and such. Ahhhh. Well, no offence of course. Replace "hate" with "dislike". Replace "dislike" with "don't care about". Nono, replace "don't care about" with "dislike". Yes, that does the trick.

Ahhh, how i hate these new Ultimas

*laughs* I played Ultima IV so much that I could even now sit down and within 30 minutes have most of the runes, and I know where just about everything is. After beating it the first time fairly, I hacked a new game so that all my characters were mages and had magic wands. That was fun. I had it on my old Atari 800XL, which I still have sitting on a shelf along with an Atari 130XE and XEGS. Those are some fun computers. One of these days when I have more room in my room I'll hook them back up and play some games.
