  • G450, Win2K and CounterStrike

    Hi

I am having quite a lot of trouble running CounterStrike under Win2K with a G450. In OpenGL mode, the system will crash (not just CounterStrike but the machine will lock up totally and need a hardware reset) after some minutes of playing. Using Direct3D, the system is stable, but the refresh rate is very low (my monitor reports it as 56 Hz). Can anyone help me solve any of these problems? I run the latest Matrox drivers, newest BIOS, newest DirectX, newest Win2K service pack. I have tried to override the DirectX refreshrate using dxdiag, but that has no effect.
The machine is: P3 on asus i815 motherboard, 256 MB RAM, soundblaster PCI 128, Matrox G450

    Please help...

5.33, 5.34, 5.51? What specific driver version? Don't just say newest! Say the latest version 5.33 drivers and I'll be much happier

I get the same problems.. SOmetimes I play for hours on end, other times CS just hardlock (with repeating sound) my machine after even a short time.
      SPecs:
      G400Max
      Asus815cusl2
      IPIII@800MHz
      512mb ram
      SblasterLive
      Win2k

      Im playing CS at 1024x768.

Might this have something to do with the 815 board? Let others with the same probs try and post their specs..

        Pace,

I have tried using both 5.33.006 as well as 5.51.005, and the problem is present in both.
The BIOS is version 1.6 - 29 (from sysutil 207).

Any clue on how to set the Direct3D refresh rate?

          DukeP,

I use exactly the same motherboard. Maybe we should try to ask ASUS
