  • G400, NT, and Quake III

I am trying to use G400 with NT to start Quake III. When the game starts up, I get a console error that basically says Quake cannot start the OpenGL subsystem.

Searching the internet, I found some clues as to why this is so: Apparently NT does not support a late enough version of DirectX.. etc.

    Any ideas?

I am running windows Nt 4.0, Matrox G400, I just got the latest drivers off the site today.. Intel PIII 700

    Thanks

This has nothing to do with Dx.
You may have some opengl32.dll in q3's dir. Simply remove it. (Try to remove the .cfg as well, look if this helps)
    If not:
Then launch regedit and make sure you have a key called 'OpenGLDrivers' and a G400xxx.dll (G400Icd.dll in win9x)is listed in the right window. Else you should reinstall the driver.
I played the q3 techdemo on *vidia's riva128 and NT 4 which was rude but fun to play.
    Hope this helps.

    Bye

Did 3d hardware acceleration enabled in properties tab of powerdesk?
