  • Games Chooses Incorrect Monitor

    Hi,

After installing the demo for Giants: Sea Reapers, I tried the game. Much to my surprise my main display showed a frame and the secondary display brought up the game screen.

    I am using a G450 card.

Also, Earth 2150 - The Moon Project has a test program that checks the performance of both displays.

    Rendering with Direct 3D HAL @ 1024x768x16 I get a reading of 33.07 on Display 1.

    Display 2 renders a reading of 36.07.

If according to the G450 manual the main monitor is fed at 360Mhz and the secondary monitor at 230Mhz how does one interpret this.

You have an Irish G450. (Hope none who is irish is reading this).

I have no idea to be honest but I don't think that the speed of the ramdac in ant way affects the performance of the card on the the resoulutions that it can drive.

Yeah that is normal, this behaviour occurs since the game is detecting a secondary card originally, ie: Voodoo 2 etc.. so obviously it will pick Voodoo 2, all they're doing is checking for secondary device... What you can do to adjust this is when you select device choose the primary one...

Ok, here you're mixing apple with oranges, the Ramdacs have nothing to do with your performance. It's how much memory is assigned to each monitor, by default it should be 50-50, but you could adjust that in your Powerdesk, hence the dynamic memory allocation tweak, if you're having problems with that let me know..

        Hi,

Thanks for response I was on vacation for the past month.

I am using the driver package numbered 6.22.010 and in the advanced settings I have no option to allocate the memory.

        Please advise.
