OpenGL - Alone in the Dark Demo

Long time since I needed help here, but this is it:
G400 DH, Win98SE, PD 6.51.012, DirectX 8.0 (4.08.00.0400)

Just got the Alone In the Dark Demo and its moaning that I dont have OpenGL on my machine. Ive fully uninstalled, then reinstalled PD6.51, but it still doesnt work.

In my Windows\System directory is an 'OpenGL32.DLL' (WinNT 4.00) and a 'g400icd.dll' (G400 ICD ver 2.20.009)

Quake3 Arena also moans about a lack of an OpenGL subsytem ....

Eeek - no other problems, although I am running Dualhead - but thats never made a difference with OpenGL of late.

maybe too simple, but do have your desktop set to 24bpp colordepth ?

DualHead does make a difference.
You at least need to unextend your desktop from your second display. It will run better if DH is totally disabled.

Also, why do you have the openGL32.dll from NT4 when you are running 98se?

Kruzin: openGL32.dll from NT4 is there cos it is! I assume its just the software implementation of OpenGL that came with Win98 - I certainly didnt put it there ...

Maggi: Ive run Quake3 Arena (OpenGL) on my 32bpp display loads of times (cant remember if I did with PD6.51 or dualheaded + 32bpp ...)

Im at work at the moment so I cant try it, but thanks - I shall report back later.

I just asked, because 24bpp colordepth would disable hw acceleration completely ...

How did you uninstall PD6.51 ?

Well, got home, fired up box, took off dualhead - et voila - it works. Both AID Demo and Q3A played fine, (AID is very alone in the dark in this sunlight).

Thanks - I might have stumbled across this after smashing one of my monitors in frustration, but the MURC way is better

PS - uninstall = CtrlPan, Rmv Matx Soft, Reboot, Install VGA PCI dflt, Reboot, Re-Install Matx Soft. All seemed ok w.r.t files being copied etc.
