      <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Well ... i'm game .... anyone wants some serious whopping .. step up !</font>
Kosh Naranek, those are some mighty strong words there bro. I've seen a lot of these guys play and you may get your butt handed to you on a plate; but who knows, maybe you can back it up . Optimism is a good thing!
      ------------------------------------------------------------

This thing may have turned into a monster. I hope that we have adequate server space for all the people that show up. If all else fails, maybe we can split off into 2 servers. HPB's in one and LPB's in another. then at the end we can duke it out in a HPB vs. LPB team game. sound fair?
      (that's a joke of-course)

Seriously, though. Maybe we SHOULD think about 2 servers with simultaneous games being played. It would be cool if someone on the European side of the world had a server for you guys to play on so that you won't get ping whipped.

If there are enough we can split into 4 teams and play a mini-tournament. This may all be too much to set up on game day, but it would be fun to try, huh?

A little counting reveals that if ONLY the people that have responded to this thread show up (not including Ant) we will have 20 players in the game. That would make 4 teams of 5 or one GIANT Death Match game.

        The IRC Channel

It is pretty important that everyone knows how to get into the IRC channel.

1)Within the game (UT - duh) click on the "Multiplayer" tab.

        2) Go to "Find Internet Games"

        3) Click on the "Chat" tab.

        4) Change the IRC Server line to "irc.gameslink.net" (without the "'s).

        5) Change the Default Channel to "#[MU]" (without the "'s).

        6) Hit connect and you should see everyone there.

If nobody else is there, there should at least be an "@G" in the list. If there isn't you are in the wrong place. Once you get there you can follow players into games and see where everyone is playing.

This is also a good way to find players even when there isn't a scheduled game since most everyone logs into the IRC channel when they are playing.

Heh. My motherboard is still toatsted, and I sold my G400MAX yesterday (Got a whooping 125$ for it). Now I have to wait for the shop to return my motherboard repaired, or admit that its toast and give me a new one on the warranty. Oh yeah. And buy a G550..

Wah! I've been too damn busy to go out and pick up the game so I probably won't be able to join the crew again. I'd just be splattered all over the walls anyway.

Okay, I just installed UT again, and now what? Which site to update it from is best, MGI or Elvis?

And what kind of update am I looking at? 180Mb? What? (Must be fun on a V90 modem )

At least I'll try to be there. With a big phone bill next month

                    Jord.

Edit: Although not... I have most of the maps still on my hdd. Woohoo, count me in guys

All the official Epic Bonus packs (1,2,Inoxx and 4) put together are ~35Mb in size. I`m not sure if you can just copy the maps in the UT\Maps dir. I *think* you`ll need to add something to UnrealTournament.ini. That is, for the bonus pack maps. If you have the .umod files, no probs.

Ahm you have the maps ... well see you tommorow (look for the guy who has ~500) ping .

And BTW Brian, dont worry, theres nothing wrong with your server, i have a lousy ISP (actually the whole network-stuff-link-whatever here in Macedonia is crappy). So dont worry if i have a high ping.

Ummm ... i have never had a lower ping and played against a HPW. Do you guys have problems if one of the players lags, ie you lag too or something? If so, please note, and i wont ruin the game for you LPBs

One of the best ways to reduce ping in UT is to go into advanced ( ~ and then type preferences ) and then expand the TCP/IP branch and then change the two entries which have *maxtick* in them ( can't remember their exact names) to 1, do not change them to 0 because then they will default to 300.
It worked for me ... 512/128 CableModem.
You could also try messing with the size of the receivewindow in windows registry under TCP/IP settings.
Check : cable-dsl.home.att.net or www.speedguide.net for some tweaks and info.

<sob>Have fun on the 23rd, folks.

I won't be able to get back into a match until at least the 28th, since that's when the local telephone company (Ameritech, for those somewhere near the Chicago area) is supposed to get my DSL line ready.

Oh, and Kindness, please pass on to Pneumatic that I'm gonna come looking for him (and probably run away at first site, since my coordination and skillz are going to most likely be WAYYYYY off )
