Unreal tournament

Two questions one about the old unreal under opengl the screen is too dark I've set the brightness to max under options is there another way to bring the brightness up? Long time since I played it and felt like a game.
2nd question what gamepad works with unreal tournament ? me and keyboard and mouse don't get on to well together I'm afraid.

Make sure you have the latest (and last) patch for the original Unreal. It enables you to run it in D3D and provides numerous tweaks via the advanced options menu.

the latest patch for Unreal would be V2.26, but imho does the V2.25f a way better job, ie. it runs a lot faster on my system while I didn't notice any oddities that would force me to update to 2.26.

I'll second those observations, Maggi! I actually tried the 2.26 patch, and it was much worse on my system than 2.25f. Epic claimed that the 2.26 patch updated the Unreal engine to the same level as the (at that time) level of the UT engine, but the game didn't perform like it. It seemed like more of a downgrade than an upgrade to me. (Too bad, too. I actually like Unreal's multiplayer as well as I do UT's)

Okay used powerstrip so what about the gamepad chaps?

dunno ... is it installed as a gamecontroler/joystick or what ?

if so, you might want to enable "use joystick" in Unreal' prefs and see what gives.

Yep seen that and no go. it works in the control panel okay but not in UT.

did you already try to map those button as "keys" ?

ie. you can define keys for each funktion and maybe your gamepad sends some special keys to the system ...

Nah the server being playing up yet again it seems less reliable than the other one.
Well the smilies are still working for once.
Anyway the gamepad is down in the control panel as a gamepad and the buttons work okay. Under unreal T it just doesn't plain exist you can't map buttons etc.
I've enabed joystick and still no go.

So it's the database that keeps turning my sig on and off without my intervention.
Any ideas on gamepads anyone though. The PIT sounding like a parrot

The Parrot... oops, PITT... what kind of gamepad do you plan to use?
