I don't think I've ever heard of anyone using a gamepad for UT, but if you have a good joystick you might want to try that. My brother swears by his joystick method (MS Sidewinder, I think)and won't convert to the mouse/keyboard system no matter how much I try to convince him. He is pretty good with it... but I still whip his butt.

I don't see any way that you could possibly be as effective with a joy stick. At any given time I am using both hands most of my fingers and a few of my toes to play UT. How can you be expected to do all of that with one hand or a couple of thumbs? How can you jump across a gap while turning around and alternate firing behid you ? How do you look around smoothly without using the mouse? Can you strafe around corners? I just don't see it all hapening as smoothly. Of course I am sure that there are some people out there that could kick my butt using a joystick, but I don't see how they do it.

I've got to agree with you there, Kindness. I've had this same arguement with my little brother many times, yet he still insists the joystick feels better. Evidently his joystick has lots of buttons on it that allow him to do (almost) as much as the rest of us... but still, it just doesn't seem as natural. Maybe when he grows up (only 34 yrs old) he'll figure it out
