  • fastest drivers for UT: strike force

Well the subject says it all. What are the fastest drivers for UT: strike force for a g400? I am running it on a abit be6 with a pIII 850... Which powerdesk version should i use for optimal results? Should i run it in OpenGL or D3D?

I have the same setup as you (mobo, processor, g400). I'm using the 6.2x driver series and UT (not strike force) runs fine for me under Win 98se and in D3D.

The only glitch I get is a curser image freezing in the middle of the screen after I toggle between full screen and window mode. It's just a nuisance issue that I think is fixed in the latest drivers, but I've been too lazy to install them.

I've never been one to do much benchmarking, but my system seems to be more stable (and possibly faster) with the 6.xx series drivers than the 5.xx drivers. Not just for UT, but for everything.

      Hi Beezer
Though I have a G200, that cursor problem is experienced by me also in UT, and it has been there for quite some time, even with different driver revisions. So I guess the problem hasn't been fixed (even for the G400)!

When i was running WinME, i experimented with lots of drivers and UT. For me, the 6.51 drivers were fastest. I tried 5.52, 6.10, 6.23 ...

        P3 500
        Abit BE6II
        256Mb RAM
        Vanilla G400 16Mb SH
        etc ..

BTW, between OpenGL and D3D ... Joel gets ~38FPS avg on his 1.3GHz Athlon and G400 MAX in OpenGL ... so D3D.

You can get rid of the cursor by turning off direct input

As far as I know this doesnt really effect anything (especially with an optical mouse )
