G450+TurboGL?

Dumb question ppl... but hope u can help

Back in the days of the G400, TurboGL was used to up the performance of many games, noticeably QII.

Now, the G450 is out with new drivers, but no support for TurboGL. Does this mean that the new drivers will perform as good as the old drivers with TurboGL? So has Matrox tweaked the new OpenGL ICD enough not to warrant the use of TurboGL?

I am trying to find out what happen to TurboGL, as it was so good before.

If someone out there can give me the whole story, that would be great! Thanx!

the TurboGL was basically a stripped down version of the full ICD, released to fullfill the gamer's urgent need to play in OpenGL.

Since quite a few releases the full ICD is performancewise on par with the TurboGL, while offering a lot more functions and thus they stopped support for TGL.

imho, TGL is obsolete now, but I know there are a few people out there that still see a slight advantage using the TGL over the ICD, but I lost track which Powerdesk still (but unoficially) works together with the TurboGL.

TGL is supported by the 5.52 win9X drivers.
IIRC the later drivers ditched supporting it.

I think TGL was still running well with PD6.21, but as said before, I lost track a while ago ...

Thanx for your help guys. Now I understand the "gap" between the standard OpenGL ICD and the now vanquished TGL.
