I've always had a pretty good connection with my 56K California dialup. It certainly came in handy when Oboy and I were playing 2v2 ladder matches.

Heya Gents,
Once the connection probs were sorted out, that was a great server-at least for UT. Bots were easy, but not TOO easy, and it was a good place to go to with the fellow MU'ers when I needed a good thrashing. You can get a machine that is fully capable to run it for under a grand, plus the connection. Hopefully Haig isn't downing the server just because it chokes off the Pron Pipe (okay...I'm kidding).
I have to agree with Matrox being a closed company...being Canadian, I love to support all things Canuck, but it seems like you guys are pulling an Alexi Yashin and taking your skills away from your most dedicated fans (I know...dated Hockey reference). If you can't provide us with such a place where you could before, it speaks volumes on where your loyalties lie. You can be a business card company and STILL cater to gamers...I thought Matrox had shown some of that with this server. The G400 was the best vid card I have ever owned, but the chances of me buying Matrox again are minimal because of strangeness such as this.
So, the gist of it is...get another machine to use as a testbed or whatever-it would be the best PR investment given what most of us saying how much we love/have loved our Matrox cards. Loyalty costs, but it's a lot easier to maintain than to build up from nothing. Thanks for the Soapbox. See you soon on some other Server....

Hey guys, don't forget about the IRC channel.
We can still meet there and follow eachother into games. I know that before that was set up I use to just log on, check MGI and then go play somewhere.
When you get on and play just log on to #[MU] (on EnterTheGame). Even if there is nobody there I know that people constantly log on to check it. You might be surprised at who pops into your game .
I am "(O_O)" in there in case you didn't know. I have a program called Trillian that lets me stay on all the time (ICQ, MSN, AIM, Yahoo, and IRC with one program but that's another story) so I can keep an eye on things. It's funny to look at the log and see how often people miss eachother by less than a minute.
Azash (aka: Snake-Eyes, Ace) and I played till almost 3am this morning and we were logged on the whole time.

Xortam... I've been using Pacbell for my dialup for about 5 years. I'm kinda pissed with them currently -- not because of the dialup ISP service, but because they won't put in a switching station so that my neighborhood can have DSL (I've been begging them for about 2 years now).
Actually, they've given me pretty stable service the whole time -- never have problems connecting, and email system has only failed once or twice that I can remember (for a 24 hr period). My neighborhood phone lines stink though, so my connection is only equivalent to about 28.8 even though it's a 56K supported phone number.
But even with this crummy connection, I'm still brave enough (or too stupid to know any better)to play against all the LPB's out there. My rig: P4 3.0GHz; Asus P4C800E; 1GB DDR 3200; AIW Radeon 9800 Pro; WD 120GB SATA; Plextor DVD burner; Liteon DVD reader; Audigy 2ZS; Logitech Z560 4.1; NEC FE991SB
