I remember when Oboy and I belonged to 2v2 ladder matches (we never won, but had lots of fun).

Lots of times we supplied the server for the matches -- which was the MGI server. The guys we challenged would usually ask what the MU stood for, and were impressed that Matrox would provide a server for us to play on.

I think it was pretty good PR.
My rig: P4 3.0GHz; Asus P4C800E; 1GB DDR 3200; AIW Radeon 9800 Pro; WD 120GB SATA; Plextor DVD burner; Liteon DVD reader; Audigy 2ZS; Logitech Z560 4.1; NEC FE991SB

Kid's rig: AMD XP 1600+; 512MB ram; GF4 Ti4600; Maxtor 60GB; Plextor CD burner; Sony DVD reader; SB Live; Cambridge 4.1 speakers; NEC FE991SB

    Other kid's rig: Athlon 2700+; ASUS A7N8X mobo; 512MB PC3200 ram; GF4 Ti4600; Maxtor 80GB; SB Live; Cambridge 2.1; NEC FE991SB; Liteon DVD-ROM

The cool thing about the MGI server was the fact that other Clans wonted to use it for matches. I thought it was a great way for Matrox to get some PR with other Clans. Had one guy say it was the best server he had played on.

Yep Beezer we almost won a couple of times. We did have fun getting our butts kicked!

I think if Matrox shut down the game server simply due to its low expense then the company/division is probably indeed in serious trouble. Come on Matrox ... are things really that bad?

Well, I never got online to the server mentioned (was before I had access to fast internet), but as a Matrox-supporter, I also vote "Yes!"

Humbug! Oh well, hopefully a new high-end gaming card is still forthcoming. I still like the idea of the excellent color and sharpness that my G400 had combined with the power and extra goodies that my GF cards have had.

Come on Matrox. Please. (with Peanut Butter and Jelly on it..) I wanna place to test out our new cards. On a related note, UT2 is supposedly gonna be out around May/June, and would be a really good demo app for the card to have on the M Game server. Think of it as free advertising.

(I know begging isn't gonna do it, but I still had to put it in here. So disappointing)

Damn I guess after I sort out some routing issues with my ISP and upgrade my PC I can use my old parts for a server.

Another Yes vote (as if it matters)

I agree that the server was excellent (and much needed) PR for Matrox with the gamers.

Matrox have now provided me with a statement on the status of the TS game server.

In December 2000, Matrox Graphics Inc. established a Matrox Users Resource Centre (MURC) game server, enabling forum users to play popular games against Matrox's Technical Support team. Although well-received among forum users, recent downturns in the Technology sector and limited resources forced Matrox Graphics to shut down the game server in August 2001. We would like to thank all of our forum users for their understanding of this matter.

Sigh ... looks like things really are that bad at Matrox Graphics. Maybe somebody can make up a nice sympathy card and we can all sign it ... "Get well soon."

                            What if...

What if the "G800" comes out this year? They have to re-open the server then, right?
