  • D3d Issues

    hi
i have a Matrox G400 16MB card, and I downloaded the last certified drivers from website.
My problem is that some D3D games don't work:
    - Colin McRae Rally 2 crashes on startup
    - Mobil1 Rally Championship says that i haven't a d3d accelerated video card or that is has less than 8mb memory.
    - think that some other games will not work (!!)

I tried Windows XP built-in drivers and they worked now for these games but a little slower. Maybe the last beta drivers resolved the problem?

    desktop at 1152x864 (24-bit)
try using 16 or 32 bit for your desktop as OGL games won't work with 24 bit desktop!

It applies, or at least used to, to D3D as well, switch to either a 16 or 32-bit desktop.

          Still applies.
24bit color has no hardware acceleration for any 3D.
          16 or 32bit is a must...

            Thanks!
            it was that!
just switched to 32bpp and now all games works

With Windows' drivers games worked simply because
they won't allow to switch to 24bpp.

i was mantaining 24bpp because menu fade in XP was a bit slow, but i prefere playing games!
