The G450 is limited by the cpu... the upper limit is a 800+mHz cpu. Also depends on the resolution your running at. The clock frequency in which the G450 is set to is somewhere between 125 and 166mHz. could also be a limiting factor.

Greebe is 100% correct. The sheer speed of the CPU is holding back your G450.
I used to get similar FPS from my G400max running TFC in 800x600x16bit colour on my old AMDK6III/475. Upgraded my system to a Duron800 @1000, and I'm now in 30-60fps heaven with the same G400max.

You can try using Matrox tweak to overclock the G450 core (my max takes +10%), you can turn off extra visuals in CS. but the bottom line is you're not going to gain more than a couple of FPS as long as you're CPU is a mere 300mhz. Even if you overclock your CPU to 400+, it'll still be slow. The Matrox G400 series will show gains in FPS up until your CPU hits about 700mhz, after which it tails off.

My advice is to upgrade your CPU to at least a 700mhz model.

700MHz is too low of an estimate. It also depends on the game. I've seen my MAX improve in FPS in some games even going from 850->1GHz.

My MAX with a 1GHz Duron will do 40-50fps in CS at 1024x768, and almost never even touch the low 30s.

I concur Wombat. As I've said before several times, I experienced smoother Q3A gaming going to a P!!! Gigger from my P!!!/850 using a G400 Max.

            sad fps

hey guys thanx for the info. im running 1024 x 768 w/ 75hz 16 bit colour, refresh rate for my monitor in desktop, it is also the same for cs.

im not sure how to overclock or tweak my g450, i cant seem to find any docs or readmes w/ how to get optimal performance outta my card.

As far as getting an upgrade on my silly 300, i can dream till i get a job!

you should get some more fps by lowering your resolution!
