Baldurs Gate 1 or Icewin Dale: Which did you like better?

Neither. I don't have the patience for slow and complex games like that, I keep myself to nobrainer hack n' slash games like Diablo.

Hard to tell! I always like the overall feel of Icewind Dale better. But the BG-storyline was really good. The only downside in BG were all the bugs!
Have you played the Icewind Dale extension?

IMHO, Baldur's Gate Series is the better SinglePlayer game between the two with a good storyline (you get to meet famous characters from Forgotten Realms eg, Drizzt [If you play an evil character using his name, he'd attack you for bringing dishonour to his name]). But Icewind Dale Series is where you and your RPG-er friends can come together and kill monsters without bothering to defend the main character which is more fun especially if you play on a LAN.Life is a bed of roses. Everyone else sees the roses, you are the one being gored by the thorns.

hmmm... I actually bought BG2 before I played those two games, I didn't play BG1 very much, couldn't stand the interface Although it looked like BG2/IWD it lacked some things that made those games easier to use... But before I got on this whole BG thingie I played Diablo1/2, after playing BG2 I can NEVER go back, Diablo is just so boring and dull compared to BG2... To much hack/slash, I noticed this with Dungeon Siege, my friend bought and I went to him to try it out, it reminds me very, very much of Diablo, just with 3D graphics and you can multiple party members, also the game is just to linear for my taste, I got quickly bored 
I really wanted to like it...
