Only in his wet dreams they're giving away free Parhelia's to MURCers

Had the same thoughts myself but I'm not expecting to be able to run it. Mark Rein has mentioned (very strongly) the importance of the power of the graphics hardware. As Epic (as did many others) jumped into bed with nVidia and no doubt got dozens of free GF3's, I expect a GF3 to be the realistic minimum - i.e. u get to see what's really in the game. Of course cards with lower specs will run but what exactly would be the point in player UT2 with (most likely) less detail and speed that you can play UT with? He has emphasised the use of a T&L engine so one can only assume that the G400max will be well down on raw horsepower.

Matrox releasing the next gen card in Summer (which we all know by previous card releases means late summer if not well into autumn...) will most likely be too late for a lot of the UT2 purchasing public. The demo is supposed to be out some time in May with the full release by July'ish. Not having the kit to play the demo on will simply be too much for most of the Matrox UT fans.

And I hate the crappy UT2003 name
Cheers, Reckless

I though it also requires a GPU card due to a lot of what use to be processor chores being off loaded to the GPU. Forget alll current Matrox cards then.

Its a good thing this "P" is coming out soon. I wanna play UT2003 and my weenie little 16MB nVidia Vanta will not cut it.

Long live Matrox and UT!

The Official Unreal Tournament 2003 Demo will be released on May 24th 2002 and then the Game should hit the streets on 27.06.2002!

The retail date sounds like the perfect timing for the Parhelia, 6 weeks after the announcement. Now if i only had a card to play the demo that will be a hard time.

Found this at Planet Unreal.

Many thanks go out to Mickey for pointing out a forum post by Mark Rein. The post speaks of their showing at E3, and gives a small status update on the UT 2003 demo. Here are two sentences that you’ll want to read:

The demo isn't quite ready yet. It will probably be a few weeks before we're ready to release it.
