That's irony... working at the biggest semiconductor firm in the world and still online through narrowband

I used to play diablo with a 28.8K until it got fried

ISDN is MUCH faster than 56K... DSL is still better though, but without fastpath your pings are high nevertheless

    AZ
There's an Opera in my macbook.

I've been playing Ut since 1999 with a 56k, and i was quite good with a 300 ping. When i moved back up to Indiana from Florida, my boyfriend and roommate and i got a cable modem. Then i got really really good with a 60 ping. After i moved out, i bought a house about 11 miles away, but in a different county. In Clark County they offered cable to us, but in Floyd County they dont. Now, we have adsl at the office which is exactly half a mile down the road. And i have tried to find an adsl company for me.. but its just not happening yet.. and believe me i would be a lot happier with adsl considering my base pay on my two phone lines with all the features is $67.67 a month. And with the company i use to get online with prodigy, i think its like $15 a month, which i get booted all the time!!!!!!!!! also thats the only thing i can figure is good about aol.. thats what im using at the moment, i never get kicked offline altho i hate it. and for some reason when i connect with aol.. im at 56k.. when i connect with prodigy im at 10-23k.. which gives me about a 350 ping... which completely sucks. But the one thing about competing in online gaming after having a 60 ping and then going back to a 250-350 ping. its hard to do. i can tell im not nearly as good with a 56k as i was a few years ago. for example i never win anymore.. back then i used to win a lot. well i can win one on one easily.... i know how to use my delay again, which usually shocks the best players now, cos they have no idea who i was back then so they suspect i suck until they have to end op playing me one on one and i beat the holy shit outta them.. then they are confused on how the hell i a lonely 56k user that sucks.. cud put them in there place.. thats when i get accused of using an aimbot.. which i have never used once in my life of UT so i have no idea on how they even work.. but oh well.. and on Elv's sever where it is impossible to use one i think, they accuse me of using one in one on one matches.. players that arent sure of themselves or arent really good accuse others of have aimbots.. players that have been around awhile and or either or good or bad usually dont accuse anyone of having an aimbot, cause they know how good ppl can be out there. even the good ones using a 56k.

ok.. i think im going to stop myself there.. lol.. just woke up so looks like i just kept going and going and going.. lol :P

You know what? It was still pretty fun.

heheh.. loads of fun.. i miss the old days of Ut.. you remember those? when you got online and everybody knew your name...and some were even scared of you. haha.. the old days on elv's and ghosts server.. with all the [MU] boyz.. my posse of british boyz.. my [MPE] clan at the time had up to about 15 players whom were all very ****ing good.. playing with Elvis, Cyber, oboy, ghost, beezer, greebe, 7-up, cant remember any of the ol regular names at the mo.. hmm...memory is shot.

but anyway, it seems like now there a lot of whiny ass little bitches playing if you ask me. i mean.. come on.. if your going to type shit every 20 seconds.. your going to eventually get killed while your typing.. GET OVER IT MORONS! hehe... i used to be nice.. if i accidentally shot someone when they were typing i wud F myself off... now they get all pissy about it.. and i dont do it anymore.. if i kill somebody when they are typing and they call me a bitch for the next 20 minutes slamming me.. then personally they can kiss my white arse.

apparently i cant shut up this morning.. haha oops

Yep. And there are a lot more whiners now. I got accused of using cheats just the other night (like the company or not, this Ti4600 makes my fragging much better, since everything's usually buttery smooth. Only my own fault when I miss [or occasionally, the stupid mousewheel thing keeping me from easily and quickly getting the best weapon out for a given situation]).

Still, we have fun now and then, when we can get enough people we like playing with online at the same time. That's all too rare right now.

In my country, Singapore, upgrading to ASDL is a no brainer - I used to pay more per month for my old 56Kb dialup (that can connect at a max of 28.8Kb/s only...) compared to my toll free 512Kb ASDL. (Yup...toll charges by the minute suck when one is hooked on online gaming...)

it would be here if the service was offered EVERYWHERE.. which it is not. and if you do happen to run along and find one its usually extemely expensive with a not so nice connection

Yeah Lizzie. etg's on the fritz..

Or rather, it seems something's keeping DNS servers from resolving enterthegame.com IPs. Use this IP for the netherlands.enterthegame.com server (it works right now at least):

195.193.163.11 (just substitute the ip for the whole irc.enterthegame.com bit, and it should work with your IRC app).

                            If only!

As the 36K might tell you, I'm miles from the exchange and as such, get a crappy line, and no chance of ISDN or ADSL. My best hope was that a local cable provider had run a trunk line past my house from town-to-town, but that was to no avail.

I plan on getting my line fixed, I'd like to get over 40K - but most of all I'd like it reliable!

Pace: AFAIK, ISDN has got nothing to do with the distance to your exchange - and it's way faster, smoother & more stable than any analogue connection
