  • Parhelia [MU] screenshots

OK...been chomping at the bit to post these, and now I can.
Thanks Greebe, for tweaking and hosting my pics

What we have is some Surround pics from our recent [MU] matches of the past couple weeks. In all pics posted, 16xFAA is enabled.

And in these 2 pics, I had tweaked on the game settings better, and installed the S3TC textures from CD2 of UT.

And here's one non-MU pic I took in STV:EF, with 16xFAA, anisostropic, and simple shaders enabled.

so are these games playable in 3840*1280*32 with 16xfaa enabled?
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.

That would be 3840x1024, and they are a bit slow for me because of my slow processor, but playable. With a stronger CPU, no problem.

I have been playing that resolution (3840X1024) with Parhelia with great performance with FAA on. Looks awesome.

                      Rags,

Don't you have a GF4? How does the performance compare to that? I know you can't give numbers but a % or something else would be much appreciated.

                      Thanks!

                      Dave

EDIT: OK, I know you will probably say something along the lines of comparing apples to oranges, but if you run at say 1600x1200x32 w/ aniso and FAA compared to the GF4 at 1600x1200x32 w/ aniso and FSAA how does it compare?

                      Thanks,

                      Dave

Awesome! I kinda figured thats what you had when you took this pic: http://home1.gte.net/res0grpz/incoming/shot0010.jpg

I'm way off in the corner and I didn't think much of it when you said "Spread out" But when you came back with "NO, Spread Way Out" I kinda figured it out

You are very correct, I have a GF4 Ti4400 clocked to 4600 speeds, and ALSO have an ATI built 8500.

The Parhelia feels smoother overall, I don't get the chugs in games that I normally see even with the GF4, so it's my thinking that the sustained framerate is an advantage for the Parhelia.

Turn on AA on the GF4 and it's not very smooth at all. Parhelia stays strong and steady with FAA on (as a matter of fact, I leave it on all the time, and it's just so damned smooth, you would have to use one to see what I mean). Anisotropic performance hit will depend on the game, and the Parhelia's trilinear and mipmapping is even more accurate to my eyes than anything I have seen yet.
