    Ant, I can't care less if I'm restricted to 640*480 in FS2K2.
I have played it starting from 640*480 up to 1880*(not remember), and the only two things that change are:

    1) FPS, you loose a few at the higher res
    2) Jaggies, that at 640*480 are ugly and at 1880*etc. are not so ugly.

FS2k2 really need a good AA, nothing more nothing less.
And apart from this I suppose you can simply:
    activate triple head
    activate FAA
    enter FS2K2
    choose 1600*1200*32bit
open 2 more windows with the "ì" key
place each one on it's monitor
set the view for each monitor
    play at 4800*1200
(I suppose. Any BB can try this?)
Sat on a pile of deads, I enjoy my oysters.

You are saying that 1920x480 is a too low res for playing with FS2k2, and so the P is not a card for flight simmers, right?

      1) It's not a P fault. It's a limit from FS2k2. And it's a limit that can be corrected by a patch by M$. Why don't FS try to ask for a patch to address it?

      2) We know nothing of Surround Gaming for ATI and NVidia. Why the hell NV30 or R300 should correct the problem, then?

      3) The reason why we play FS2k2 at higher res is that the graphics it's full of jaggies. So playing at *480 it's too low? We have FAA, that's just what FS2k2 needed...

      4) Why wait to see what other cards can do in singlehead, when you can do the same with better graphics in DH or TH?

      5) Have you noticed that FS2K was one of the first game to support natively DH, and that FS2K2 is one of the first to support triple head?

      Byez.
You bring up a couple of good points (although if you were active in the flight sim forums you'd surely have noticed how they are treating this card).

But you should know quite well that asking MS to fix a piece of software they provide is, well, pissing into the wind (to use an American phrase). It ain't gonna happen, not for this board nor any other board.

And I'm not saying the nVidia or ATI boards will fare any better, only that many will wait if triple gaming isn't all it's cracked up to be for FS.

But the comment you made about flying in a higher res to get rid of the jaggies and this board has other ways around that... well, that's interesting and I hope true. The graphics posted on Matrox's own site don't seem to confirm this, but the BBz seem to imply this (I can't get *anyone* to tell me anything other than through innuendo, however!)

I'm not sure, though, that running in higher res is all about getting rid of jaggies. There is more information than just straightening out lines contained in higher res, and if we truly have half the resolution of what people are used to running FS in, well, that's going to be leaving out a lot of stuff that no amount of AA will overcome.

But I am *wanting* to be convinced -- and if so, I'll carry the word to all the unwashed masses (hey, some of us on the other FS boards don't have enough time to shower). I desperately want to see screen shots of three screens worth of FS that don't have the jaggies and compete in detail with my single screen running 1024 x 768.

Hey, kelleym, just a note: sometimes I seems a lot "rude".
Well, apart from being effectively a bit rude... there's the problem signaled into my sign

That's okay, Drizzt. My Italian is terrible (and my dad is first generation Italian! About the only thing I got from him was curly hair and a love of pasta!)

dx7 only supports resolutions up to 2048*2048(afaik), thats the problem, it won´t get fixed unless they port it dx8.
wouldn´t it be possible to have a "virtual resolution" at say 2048*1024, and fix the aspect ratio in some way?
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.
