Warcraft 3 problems

I got warcraft 3 yesterday but have not been able to get it to run. when i try to run it i get a error saying could not initialize directX

according the the blizzard website (http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=awr0555p) that it should work with the newest drivers. so i uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers but they still do not work, i've even tried the replacement icd found on the matrox utilities & patches page.

256BM ddr ram

Try the 5.84 beta drivers... that what i used and it works like a charm.

Have you run DXDiag.exe to verify that there are no problems with DX and your drivers??

The beta test version ran pretty good on my G400 MAX with Win98 and the 6.82 drivers.

just downloaded and installed the 5.84 beta drivers and still not working

hmm dxdiag testing fails:
DirectDraw test results: All tests were successful.
Direct3D test results: Failure at step 5 (GetDeviceCaps): HRESULT = 0x8876086a (3D not available)


so i guess now the problem is how do i get this d3d problem fixed

Maybe try reinstall DX to see if that helps. If not, try different driver sets then. I wish I could be more help, but I am not experienced enough with Matrox's drivers (yet).
